What is a dividend/special dividend.

派息是指上市公司向股東派送利息，即現金。在除權日前一天結算後，如果客戶持有上市公司的股票，則都會參與派息。

除權日當天，上市公司的股票價格會下跌，所以股東會在開盤前看到自己的盈虧是虧損狀態。這部分虧損的金額會變換成利息現金派送到股東的帳戶中。

所以，簡單講，派息就是股東的持倉由全部正股，變成了全部正股（價格下跌）+ 現金利息（金額為正股下跌的部分）。現金會在派送日存入股東的帳戶。

特殊派息是派息的一種，只是派息的理由是某種特殊性，例如上市公司的某些投資賺錢，而不是主營業務賺錢，所以派發特殊股息。
