What is a stock dividend?

送股也叫紅股。在除權日前一天結算後，如果客戶持有上市公司的股票，則都會參與送股。

除權日當天，上市公司的股票價格會下跌，所以股東會在開盤前看到自己的盈虧是虧損狀態。這部分虧損的金額會變換成紅股派送到股東的持倉中。

所以，簡單講，送股就是股東的持倉由全部正股，變成了全部正股（價格下跌）+ 贈送的正股（價值為正股下跌的部分）。

紅股會在派送日存入股東的持倉（送的紅股是與正股一樣的股票）。
