  • What are Hong Kong Stock Futures?

HONG KONG STOCK FUTURES ARE DERIVATIVES CONTRACTS WHOSE VALUE IS DERIVED FROM PRICE MOVEMENTS OF A PARTICULAR STOCK OR STOCK INDEX (E.G. HANG SENG INDEX) ON THE HONG KONG STOCK MARKET (HONG KONG SHARES). Hong Kong stock futures are traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx), where investors can trade through a registered securities broker or authorized trading platform. The trading hours of Hong Kong stock futures are usually linked to the trading hours of the Hong Kong stock market.

Basic characteristics and characteristics of Hong Kong stock futures:

    1. Related Assets: The benchmark for Hong Kong stock futures can be individual stocks or Hong Kong stock indices, such as Hang Seng Index futures.

    2. Contract Specifications: The Hong Kong Stock Futures Contract specifies the trading conditions, including the number of relevant assets, delivery dates, contract price units, etc.

    3. PRICE FORMATION: THE PRICE OF HONG KONG STOCK FUTURES IS DETERMINED BY MARKET SUPPLY RELATIONS AND IS PUBLICLY AUCTIONED ON EXCHANGES.

    4. Leverage: Hong Kong stock futures have a leverage effect, which means that investors can control larger positions by paying only a small fraction of the contract value as margin. This can increase the potential for return on investment, but also comes with corresponding risks.

    5. SETTLEMENT METHOD: HONG KONG STOCK FUTURES ARE USUALLY CASH SETTLED, WHICH MEANS THAT WHEN THE CONTRACT EXPIRES, THE SELLER PAYS OR RECEIVES CASH FROM THE BUYER DEPENDING ON THE PRICE DIFFERENCE OF THE FUTURES CONTRACT.

  • What does term mean

Futures refers to index futures, a type of futures contract. SINCE FUTURES HAVE LEVERAGED ATTRIBUTES, YOU CAN BUY AND SELL ONLY BY PAYING THE APPROPRIATE MARGIN (DEPOSIT). GENERALLY, MAINSTREAM FUTURES HAVE STRONG LIQUIDITY AND ARE WIDELY WELCOMED BY INVESTORS. However, unlike other commodity futures, futures contracts such as soybeans, crude oil can be delivered in real terms, while index futures can only be delivered in cash.

  • What is the constant night period?

“Overnight” refers to the overnight trading period of Hong Kong Hang Seng Index futures, typically beginning at 5:15 p.m. on each trading day and continuing until 3:00 a.m. the following day. Hang Seng Index futures are derivatives contracts traded on the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index (HSI) and are designed to track and invest in Hang Seng Indices. Hang refers to night trading as compared to day trading. First, the trading volume of night trading is usually lower than day trading because there are fewer investors participating in the trade. Second, market liquidity may be affected due to the relatively small number of participants, so price volatility may be greater. In addition, in overnight trading, other market-related factors such as international events and news releases may affect the price of Hang Seng Index futures.
