What are the buying power limits for pre-IPO market trading

Because pre-IPO market trading is over-the-counter, and all orders are subject to the risk of cancellation, the net cash from selling pre-IPO market stocks cannot be used to buy other stocks and will be frozen until the IPO is listed or canceled.

For example:

Suppose you hold a pre-IPO market stock A, with 0 cash in your account, and sell it at 2000 HKD during the pre-IPO market trading hours, the 2000 HKD will be frozen. During the freeze period, there will be:

1. If you want to buy stock B during normal trading hours, the buying power to buy B stock is 0 HKD;

2. If you want to buy the pre-IPO market stock C during the pre-IPO market trading hours, the buying power to buy C stock is 0 HKD;

3. If you want to buy back the pre-IPO stock A during the pre-IPO market trading hours, the buying power to buyback A stock is 2000 HKD.
