Futu Hong Kong's June ETF Trading Users Surge 100% YoY; ETF Investment Month and "Futu Wealth Summit 2026" to Launch in August

(Hong Kong, July 29, 2026) Futu Securities International (Hong Kong) Limited (“Futu”) announced its latest platform ETF investment data findings, indicating that ETFs are quickly emerging as a key gateway for Hong Kong investors to enter the market. ETFs have risen to become the second-largest investment category for users’ first trades, after individual stocks, reflecting a gradual shift among investors towards an asset allocation-driven investment approach.
To further promote the development of a diversified investment ecosystem, Futu will launch “Futu ETF Investment Month” in August, together with its flagship inaugural event, “Futu Wealth Summit 2026”. The series will also include the launch of the “ETF Investment Masterbook”, the latest ETF market features and educational content on the Futubull App, and a wide range of investor education initiatives aimed at enhancing investors’ understanding of ETF investing.
ETF Trading Records Strong Growth in H1 2026, with June Traders Doubling Year-on-Year
Data from the Futubull platform reveals robust growth in ETF trading during the first half of 2026. The number of ETF traders increased by 57% year-on-year, while the number of executed orders rose by 67% and trading turnover increased by 64%. In June alone, the number of platform clients trading ETFs more than doubled year-on-year, while ETF trading turnover and executed orders increased by 250% and 230%, respectively. The number of users participating in monthly investment plans also recorded year-on-year growth of more than 200%. Meanwhile, the proportion of clients holding ETFs in their portfolios climbed to 35%, indicating that ETFs are playing an increasingly important role in investors’ asset allocation.
Anna Fung, Senior Analyst at Futu Securities said that, from a macro perspective, ETFs have gradually become an important asset allocation tool in the market. In particular, amid more volatile market conditions in June, investors showed a stronger preference for using ETFs to reduce exposure to individual stock volatility and enhance portfolio stability. According to data from Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Group (HKEX), the average daily turnover of exchange-traded products (ETP), reached HK$48.4 billion in the first half of 2026, representing a 32% increase compared with the full-year level in 2025. This growth was mainly driven by continued investor interest in diversified products such as technology, gold, and cross-market ETFs, which supported active trading.
Anna Fung added that, motivated by market volatility and ongoing product innovation, ETFs have become increasingly popular as stable and transparent long-term investment tools. With strategies covering indices, sectors, and themes, ETFs allow investors to achieve diversified exposure through a single product and lower the barrier to participating in the market without relying heavily on individual stock selection. Their appeal is mainly driven by diversification, lower decision-making costs, relatively stable returns, and risk management functions. In addition, ETFs’ ability to closely track market performance and provide stable distributions has also become an important factor attracting investors.
Futu Enhances ETF Tools to Support Diversified Investing
In response to this growing demand, Futu has continued to enhance users’ ETF investment experience. Through the ETF section on the platform, users can browse ETFs across global markets, including Hong Kong, U.S., and Japanese equities. They can also use the different ETF tools to analyse different ETFs across markets, sectors, and thematic rotations. The platform provides key data such as fees, trading activity, holdings distribution, distributions, and historical performance, helping investors identify ETF products that better match their risk preferences.
For investors who prefer not to trade frequently or commit a large sum of capital at once, Futu also supports monthly ETF investment plans based on a dollar-cost averaging approach. This enables investors to gain exposure to Hong Kong and U.S. stock ETFs, track broader market trends, and capture opportunities in popular global sectors over time. In addition to the ETF screener, Futubull AI also supports real-time enquiries on popular ETF-related topics, such as analysing the differences between VOO and SPY, screening high-dividend ETFs, and setting up regular investment strategies, helping investors improve the efficiency of information access and decision-making.
Futu ETF Investment Month and "Futu Wealth Summit 2026" to Kick Off in August, Enhancing Investor Understanding and Skills
Futu has continued to deepen its investor education efforts and is committed to building a professional and systematic investment knowledge framework for users. This August, Futu will launch a new flagship initiative — “Futu Wealth Summit 2026: Spot the Trends to Seize the Next Decade” — which will officially commence on 8 August. Together with “Futu ETF Investment Month”, the initiative will form a month-long series of professional investment events, offering investors multi-dimensional and in-depth market insights and investment perspectives.
On the event date, Futu will host a large-scale ETF seminar for around 1,000 participants, bringing together professionals from leading industry institutions and asset managers, including Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) , China Asset Management (Hong Kong) , CSOP Asset Management, and GF International, covering topics from market trends to allocation strategies, the seminar will provide forward-looking insights and investment perspectives. It will also be livestreamed on in-app Futubull Community , enabling more investors to participate online.
Following the success of the Futu Expo, Hong Kong’s largest retail investment and wealth expo, which provided platform investors with broad practical insights, the inaugural annual conference will further support investors in developing systematic investment thinking, assessing markets from a professional perspective, and identifying emerging trends. To provide investors with a comprehensive learning pathway for ETF investing, the event will also mark the debut of the "ETF Investment Masterbook", a comprehensive one-stop guide spanning the entire ETF learning journey for investors, including ETF fundamentals, screening methodologies, dollar-cost averaging strategies, and advanced allocation approaches.
Concurrently, to address investors' diverse investment needs, Futu has assembled guest experts and investment KOLs from multiple fields including macroeconomics, quantitative trading, cryptocurrency, and artificial intelligence. A total of 12 in-depth seminars will be held at FUTU Stores throughout Futu ETF Month, covering a wide range of investment topics. In addition to ETF-focused seminars presented by Hang Seng Investment, the series encompasses forward-looking investment themes such as Hong Kong and US equities, funds, futures, IPOs, crypto, the space economy, and AI — from institutional-grade macroeconomic trend analysis to practical investment experience sharing — providing investors with references that combine both depth and actionable value.
Furthermore, on August 20, Nasdaq's Chief Economist Phil Mackintosh will host an exclusive event Futu's high-net-worth clients, offering insights from a global trading perspective on the divergence, restructuring, and investment opportunities in international markets amid the interplay of interest rates, inflation, and technological disruption. From understanding market trends to constructing personal investment frameworks, the Futu Wealth Summit equips investors with the professional perspective to navigate markets.
