4. Margin Interest = Margin Loan * 6.8% * Interest Accrual Days / Number of Days In a Year.

5. Stock Loan Interest = Market Value of Borrowed Stock * Stock Loan Rate * Interest Accrual Days / Number of Days In a Year.

  • The market value of the borrowed stock is determined by the stock's settlement price, which is equal to its closing price on the transaction date.

  • The stock loan rate isn't fixed. It varies based on several factors such as the stock's risk level, its liquidity in the market, and the short interest ratio (the proportion of shares available to borrow compared to the total number of shares).

  • The stock loan rate may fluctuate based on the specific stock, date and time. After a short sale trade fills, the interest on the borrowed shares may vary each day. The daily stock loan rate is determined at the time of settlement. For details, please refer to your statements.

  • If your account has a negative balance after interest is debited for the current month, the owed amount will be added to the margin loan for the next month.

6. If a stock you've shorted is suspended from trading or undergoes delisting and liquidation, you may be unable to close your short position for an extended period. During this time, you will continue to pay interest on the borrowed shares, and this situation will persist until:

  • The stock completes its delisting and liquidation process, or
  • You close your short position after trading resumes.
